Mulching methods in Organic farming

1. Polythene mulch 

This is a good type of mulch that can be used in organic farming instead of using weedicides which can cause a huge environmental impact. This effectively suppresses the weed growth in your garden. It is the most effective mulching method that you can use in organic farming.

2. Rice straw mulching

This is one of the most environmentally friendly methods that you can use for your organic card organic Garden. This is lost not effective than polythene mulch but is also suppress the weed growth to a sufficient level the most important factor in this mulch, this can retain moisture that is required for the plants. When you are making the mulch with straw, you have to be careful of weeds because it may contain the weeds which may be grown in your garden.

3. Grass clippings 

You can use the grass clipping as a mulch when you get them dried. These grass clipping contain Nitrogen and it is good for crop growth.

4. Paddy husk

You can get the paddy husk from the paddy mills at a cheaper price. You can use these paddy husks evenly in your garden beds. It is good to retain moisture and control weeds. But is not good at controlling the weeds compared to paddy straw.

5. Shredded leaves or wood chips

If you are having a garden with trees,  you can have the shredded leaves for free. You can collect all the fallen leaves, dry them, and cut them into pieces required for the mulch. This is a nutrient-rich mulch for the garden.

6. Compost mulch

This is also good mulch that you can use in your organic can but this does not suppress weed growth. As the compost is a good media for the weeds to grow as well. This fertilizes your crops and a higher yield can be expected. You can have another thin layer of mulch to overcome this problem.

7. Cover crops

This is a method of growing apps like Sesbania, Gotu Kola as a mulch this is a good method that farmer can earn an extra income instead of using about market

Advantages of mulching

1. Multi reduces the water evaporation from the soil then crops can have plenty amount of water
2. Reduces the amount of water that should be applied to the crops
3. Reduces soil erosion in your farming field

Disadvantages of mulching

1. It does cost labor to have a merge
2. The mulch can be a host to pathogens like fungi.
