Why teak cultivation is a better investment option

The teak tree, which is currently in great demand, has attracted a lot of attention. Many people who know the economic benefits of growing a teak tree are interested in growing two teak saplings where possible. But there is an order to grow a teak tree. Failure to do so will not result in the expected results. It is essential to know that control and act accordingly.

Teak belongs to the genus Verbenaceae. They are especially found in tropical and subtropical countries. It is said that there are three main species spread all over the world. Those species are as follows.

    1. Tectona grandis
    2. Tectona hamiltoniana

In the United States, the species is known as Burmese teak. This species is endemic to arid areas of Burma.

The genus Oystercatcher is endemic to the islands of Mindanao and Batangas in the Philippines.

Teak is now widely grown in many countries. Cultivation is also reported in Burma, India, Thailand, Java, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Africa, the Caribbean, and South, and Central America.

Being a crop that can be grown in different climatic patterns contributes to the expansion of teak cultivation. It is a crop that prefers dry climates. It is also a crop grown at an average temperature of 32-44 degrees. Annual rainfall is mm. 1000-1500 is also sufficient for cultivation. It can also be grown well in arid and intermediate zones of our country. The growth rate of the tree depends on the fertility of the soil. Deep loamy, fertile, clay, sandy loam soils are more favorable. Soil with a soil pH value of 6.6-7.5 helps the teak tree to grow well. Maintaining a rapid growth rate is very important in this cultivation.

The teak plant loves light. The leaves are very wide. With deciduous leaves. The leaves of November and January can be clearly seen in the fallen crop. New papers appear in April and June. Brings beauty when flowers bloom. Occurs as small white inflorescences. These flowers appear from June to August. The resulting seeds are used for planting. Seeds germinate less naturally as they have a thicker seed cover. Teak seeds can be used for planting. Seedlings are obtained from nurseries and good seeds should be selected and used for planting. Weak seeds need to be removed and seed treated.

Here is how to make teak seedlings. Selected mature teak seeds should be soaked in water for 3 days and then picked up and kept thin in the air. Leave it for 3 days and soak it for another 2 days. Then it is necessary to take it out again, thin it for 2 days and soak it in water for another 1 day. Then the seeds need to be kept in the air for another 1 day. In all cases, it is necessary to pay attention to the thinning of the seeds in the air a little. Thus, 12 days have passed by the last day. The last harvested seeds need to be piled up and covered with a wet sack. These sacks should be moistened daily. After 14 days, germinated seeds can be seen. Only germinated seeds in the soil should be used for planting in beds.

These seedlings reach a height of 6-8 months. It grows to a height of 15-60 cm. Fertilizer application, weed control, application of pesticides etc. can increase the success of the plants. Carefully remove the well-grown seedlings (pencil or larger) and remove the upper apex. The prepared cuttings should be transferred to another polythene bag and used for transplanting after another 2-6 weeks.

There is no need to dig holes when planting teak roots. Cm. Dig a hole about 20 feet deep with a trowel and place the first piece of teak in the hole about 1 inch above the ground level and then tighten the soil well to prepare the roots.

Teak is cultivated on large plots of land, in home gardens, on fences, and on large tracts of land. Can be grown in different soils. Teak trees are often found growing in newly cleared lands.

In commercial teak plantations, seedlings are planted at short intervals and then excess trees are cut down for thinning. Tall tall trees can be created by creating a competitive environment for small seedlings to grow. The gap in commercial plantations is m Holds 2 3/4 x 2 3/4. Under this gap, about 1325 seedlings per hectare are required. Planting is done at fences or small plots with a spacing of 5 m.

Successful results can be obtained by planting teak seedlings and maintaining them properly. It is important to keep weeds free around the plants. It is advisable to keep the weeds in a circle about 1/2 m around the plant and keep it clean. Seedlings can be grown successfully by applying a mixture of compost. The soil should be loosened with fertilizer around the plants.

The most important aspect of cultivation is to maintain high-quality timber. If there are other vines growing around the trunk by removing the branches in the middle and below the trunk, they also need to be removed. Leaf-eating insects, mites, and cockroaches are the pests of teak. But these damages have not been reported as harmful.

Teak wood is in great demand. Teak trees are pruned when they are 15-20 years old as small round wood and 30-40 years old as mature wood. When removing teak wood, not all plants are removed at once. Thinning of the plant is usually done in about 5 cases. As the growth rate varies depending on climatic conditions and soil factors, the amount of available timber may vary. The first thinning removes trees, fences, round timbers, etc.The value of timber varies according to the diameter of the tree trunk. According to the information reports of the Forest Department, the income from the amount of timber that can be obtained from one hectare of land is up to Rs. 25-60 lakhs.
