Here are the few most important farm records you should never miss on your farm. Some of the records are required for the Organic Certification and some other certification bodies.
Farm Diary
You should keep every activity record on the farm in either a book or a farm record application. This will help you to track the next harvesting period when the crops are required to fertilise in the next season and so many other activities on the farm. If you are expecting to have an organic certification or other certification for the farm, it is necessary to keep all the activities transparent.
This farm diary can be used to calculate the actual cost that the farm has incurred make predictions and arrange procurement for the next season.
Cashbook and payment receipt
All the bills and receipts of the farm should be collected and filed in in a file. That will help you to evaluate whether the farm is going to have profits or losses. You can have a breakeven point for the profits
Farm inventory Record
This will track what are the equipment machinery and other tools that the farm owns. This will help you to decide what is the required machinery to be repaired or replaced.
Payroll and labour record
This will help to track how much you spent on labour and other worker wages on the farm and whether they are necessary or not. And how to reduce the labour cost in the next coming season.
Farm input utilisation record
You must include what type of fertilizer that you have purchased, what type of chemicals ect.
